i have tattoos. my favorite novels are Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Little, Big by John Crowley, and The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. i judge the value of a food by how effectively it can be consumed with peanut butter. for all intents and purposes i'm a no-talent ass-clown but i got heart. i should be way better at guitar than i am, considering how long i've been playing. i hope to be living in Honolulu by the beginning to middle of June. i'm a proficient whistler and my singing voice is quite nice. i saw an episode of Mama's Family on tv the other night and decided i want to buy the 1st season on dvd. finally, i am determined to hold my breath until 1) Final Fantasy IV DS is released for the Nintendo DS and 2) Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is released for the PSP, starting - now (i may not survive).

Haha Burg, I have those days too. Typically it's every single day I find myself at work. 5/7! :/

If you come back to the forums at lefora here, make sure you register over at our brand-spankin'-new website, http://dias-lotro.com, as we will probably be letting this one dissolve into nothingness eventually. see you there, if I don't run into you in-game first!

Healonu, do you have your class quest drops (putrid slime of Helchgam, rune of winged dominance) yet? I got both of mine recently, so I'd love to accompany you to Carn Dum to snag 'em.

Oh by the way, I was telling some of the guys that every time I see your name I think of that one Heart song, "Crazy On You". I hope you don't find that offensive at all, because I think it's awesome...

Kinship Storage System

March 20, 2008 by cuiviel

Hey all, as some of you may know I've started up a second account so that my sister and I can each have a full account's worth of character slots, and as a result I've had to start my minstrel over (bummer!).

Anyway, with one character (Cuiviel) nearly maxed out, I anticipate on having at least two (maybe three) character slots open for a long while. Hooray for storage space!

I discussed this with Broonor the other night, and he gracefully dubbed me the 1st Official Kinship Curator! (Though I admittedly came up with the title myself.) So, in the near future I will be starting up a couple of characters to be used for storage only, and I'll empty out all the kin chests and fill their backpacks and vaults in an effort to alleviate some stress on the limited storage space accessible to officers and members inside the kin house. When the storage characters are created, I'll provide an update to this thread with their names and general purposes.

As for the kin chests themselves, I will be managing them on an ongoing basis to ensure that they remain as organized and clutter-free as possible.

Gorthin, if you decide to move the forum I would be most appreciative if you found a host that would enable me to edit previous posts at any time, so that if necessary I can maintain a detailed inventory list and manage any requests I receive for items.

That's all for now, I'll be sure to give you all an update as soon as possible.

Happy hunting!

Ah, you must be talking about the minstrel, Luteus Maximus. The guardian of the rear - he backs up each and every one of us! He's a hobbit though, so be careful not to sit on him. Haha.

Well, HPs giving me a bit of a run-around on getting the laptop repaired. I was initially hoping to have it back by tomorrow, but I don't know if that'll be possible now. I'm expecting a call from them, and I've got my diatribe memorized. I'ma tear them a new one and demand prompt quality service. I'll keep you posted!

Did something happen to the forum layout? Looks a little shaky...

Re: Rift run 03 15.. Saturday

March 7, 2008 by cuiviel

Oh, also: a good RL friend of mine would like to be included in the Rift run if
possible. pst Dejared if you want a 50 hunter or Dejablue for a 50 minstrel.
He has the campsite (which can be transferred to Cuiviel if necessary). what
time is the run scheduled for?

Hey Broonor, I'm in with Cuiviel if there ends up being room for a hunter. I should be getting my notebook back by March 12th at the latest, so the 15th should work out famously.

Quick update #2:

  1. I've received the packaging from HP to send to their service department, and after I attempt to backup the data on my hard drive I'll be sending it out. Hopefully by Friday of next week I'll be up and running again. Hopefully.

  2. I'm irked and bummed simultaneously: my minstrel could be level 37 by now, if not for technical difficulties! As it stands, I've got a little catching up to do. Power-levelling time soon, soon. Watch your back, Thurgrum! =]

PS Gorthin: Time to update your signature, you xp fiend you.

Quick update:

  1. there's no LOTRO client available for Mac, so unless it's possible to install Windows onto an iMac (I know it's possible to put it on MacBooks and desktop Macs) I may not decide to purchase one. but I'm hoping...

  2. bought an extended warranty for my sister's notebook today. apparently HP Pavillion notebook PCs have power switch mechanisms that are integrated into the motherboard! unbelievable! this is an outrage. so they're going to FedEx me a box to put the notebook in and send to the service department. taking this into account, I should be able to come back around the end of the first week in March.

Computer Trouble

February 25, 2008 by cuiviel

Hey all, I tried to log on Sunday afternoon and discovered (to my chagrin) that my sister's laptop refuses to power on. I think it's a problem with the power switch itself, because I'm able to utilize a "Quickplay," a proprietary HP function for playing media files and DVDs, and with it I successfully browsed through some folders on my C: drive, which leads me to believe that my hard disk hasn't been corrupted.

But until I'm able to get Windows running again I'm going to be out of commission. I really hope it doesn't take too long; I've been thinking about getting an iMac for myself for some time now, so if worse comes to worst I'll be forced to do that.

See you all soon - don't get into any trouble without me!

Carn Dum, anyone?

February 4, 2008 by cuiviel

So I'm almost halfway to 48 and I'm itching to taste Bow of Righteousness... who wants to haunt Carn Dum with me? =D

Re: Book Help

January 24, 2008 by cuiviel

I too am down to come along for any epic questing - I'm currently at the start of Book VII. Hopefully I can get some of it done by myself, but they're all level 50 quests, and I'm not quite 45 yet...

Re: Useful Links

January 23, 2008 by cuiviel

No, I haven't tried any of them yet. I was given the link by a friend and thought I'd share it in case anyone wanted to experiment. If I do try one of them, I'll give you a detailed explanation of what happens!

Useful Links

January 22, 2008 by cuiviel

If anyone knows of any crazily useful links for reference websites, post 'em here!

To start, there's the treasure trove of ever-helpful maps at http://mehq.net

http://www.lotroalliance.com
a great site with beautifully formatted lists of all the armour/jewelry/weapon sets (from Tal Bruinen to Rift gear), maps of all regions detailing what monsters drop what shards and where they can be found, fellowship maneuver diagrams, traits, titles, etc. One of my favorite LotRO websites.

http://www.tuckborough.net/
an AWESOME Encyclopedia of Middle Earth, just in case you've ever wanted to know the name of the deadly looking spear in Gil-galad's hand on that statue outside the kinship house (it's "Aeglos", which is Elvish for "Icicle").

http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=114924
this details the special PvMP armour sets that will be coming with the Book XII update in a few weeks. Pretty snazzy! See you in the Moors?

http://www.lotrointerface.com/downloads/index.php
interface add-ons and changes

http://www.northshield.co.uk/LOTRO/Armour.htm
an interesting website with images of all crafted armour sets, as well as complete recipes and stats.

Okay that's all for now, I hope some of you find these useful and/or interesting.

Re: Changing Professions

January 22, 2008 by cuiviel

Okay all, it's official: I changed from Explorer to Armourer on an alt last night and my prospecting / tailoring skills carried over! So it's safe, for any Woodsmen/women who want to change over to Armsmen/women after mastering woodworking. I can't wait!

Re: Changing Professions

January 18, 2008 by cuiviel

Found out that the friend I "learned" that from wasn't exactly "certain" but I did find this thread from the LOTRO forums supporting my theory:

http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?p=918923

I'm going to try it with a low level alt tonight, and if it works I'll be stoked.

Changing Professions

January 18, 2008 by cuiviel

Hey Gorth, I learned from a friend who speaks from experience that when changing professions, any advances made in trades can be carried over, as long as the profession you're switching to offers the trade you wish to retain.

e.g. once I master woodworking I can switch from woodsman to armsman, taking my GM woodworking skill with me (and taking full advantage of my current ability to harvest wood).

Just thought I'd let you know; I wasn't sure if our last conversation regarding profession changes was totally clear. At any rate I can't wait to GM woodworking so I can switch to armsman and start training APPRENTICE PROSPECTING! Woo!

nice forum layout, though it loads a little slowly (at least at work, which is where I usually browse forums).
